He was our 35th President of the United States and though he did not serve 3 years in this position – and has been gone from us for 50 years – he remains one of our most popular and intriguing presidents. John F. Kennedy, affectionately JFK – what was it about him? Was it that he seemed tough and smart, especially as it related to the Soviet Union, Cuba and communism? Was it that he was young and handsome with a glamorous wife and adorable children? Was it the aura of his membership in a rich and powerful family? His leadership, idealism and political stances? The tragedy of a rising leader’s life cut short? All of the above?
For me it was all about his charisma. The speeches and his delivery of them were mesmerizing, memorable and meaningful. During this week of JFK remembrance, we’d like to use this forum to pause and remember JFK, often called our country’s most inspiring President. This video is from the National Archives and it gives commentary along with highlights from his inaugural speech.

Share your favorite JFK quote here. One of my favorites is from his Annual Message to the Congress on the State of the Union on January 11, 1962:
The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.
