Marketers are always on the hunt for the elusive “younger demo.” Now the United States Postal Service has joined the party. In an attempt to generate a youthful interest in their services and excitement about stamps and collecting by youth, they have strayed away from their usual protocol and released a stamp series with a Harry Potter theme. Not everyone is on board with using pop culture and non-Americans on their stamps, preferring instead for more tradition with stamps that feature deceased Americans of historical significance and other themes routed in American history and culture.
The USPS inspector general’s office wants to know what customers think about this issue and you can comment on their blog.
We’d also like to know what you think. Please give us your thoughts on tradition vs. something new. I’ll start the discussion with my opinion – why can’t we do both?
